Kimse Yok Mu opens logistics and food center in Somalia
Kimse Yok Mu, a Turkish relief organization established by the followers of ideas and teaching of Fethullah Gulen, is continuing stretching its helping hand for people of Somalia. Kimse Yok Mu has recently opened a logistics and food center which will enable volunteers of Kimse Yok Mu to be more efficient and organized in distribution of aid to Somalis. The opening ceremony was held in the capital of Somalia Mogadishu and attended by Somalian Prime Minister Sheikh Sharif Ahmed who expressed his deep appreciation of the work done by Turkish people. He said, “Turkish people you do not just give food, you are here to rebuild this country together.” After the ceremony volunteers distributed food packages to all Somalis who joined the ceremony. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has visited Somalia devastated by prolonged famine to pull the world’s attention to the region and to demonstrate the value Turkey gives to this problem. During the trip Erdogan was accompanied by Somalian President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, the PM’s Assistant Bekir Bozdag, Foreıgn Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Family and Social Policy Minister Fatma Sahin, Health Minister Recep Akdag, Food – Agriculture and Livestock Minister Mehdi Eker, Director of Religious Affairs Mehmet Gormez, KYM President Unal Ozturk, and many other politicians and artists.
Kimse Yok Mu and other relief organizations of Turkey united together in common goal to help African people to overcome huge famine. President of the organization Unal Ozturk informed that Kimse Yok Mu collected almost 25 million TL (which equal to 14 million USD) of cash aid which will be used towards Somalian drought crisis. The organization is giving 72000 hot meals everyday and has sent 7 food containers by ship. It should be noted that Turkey has become one of the most active countries helping Africa to deal with its humanitarian crisis. Turkey plans to collect $200 million of cash aid during the holy month of Ramadan for Somali people. At a special meeting of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held recently in Turkey Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Somali parents name their newborn girls ‘Istanbul’ as sign of gratitude for Turkey’s active support.
